I'm not sure how to start my research, any advice?

Answer

Your online reading lists point you towards important and relevant resources for your research, especially textbooks and key articles. Also, take a look at the library’s subject guides for your subject area, they offer carefully selected links to useful library databases and trustworthy web resources. Particularly handy for starting your research are academic encyclopaedias that provide useful introductions to many topics, and also handbooks, which summarise research on a topic.

The subject guides and library search will help you discover these resources and others. Keyword searching in library search and limiting your results by publication type to ebooks will find relevant books on your topic. You may find it helpful to watch our short introductory video on using library search, and for more information our search skills page will help you search effectively to find relevant resources.

The Library also runs a programme of Workshops, both in-person and online, covering all aspects of Research and Information Skills.

If you are still having difficulty finding material for your assignment then you can contact the librarian for your subject area using the Book a Librarian service or speak to your module tutor.
