What rules are there for using the library?

Loughton 

Please remember that the library is a quiet study zone. This means that noise should be kept to a minimum

The library allows hot and cold drinks in bottles or lidded cups. Cold food is allowed as long as it is not smelly or noisy, and must be consumed away from IT lab desktops. Hot or strong smelling food is not allowed. You may be asked to leave and consume your food elsewhere. Alcohol is prohibited.

Your mobile should be on silent mode while you are in the library. Any calls must be made or taken outside.

Colchester

Takeaways and hot food are not allowed anywhere in the library. Cold food and hot and cold drinks is permitted within all areas of the library. Please be mindful of the area you are studying in and the people around you when eating.

Noise should be kept to a minimum is Quiet Study Zones (including the Postgraduate Study Room), whereas there should be no talking in the Silent Study Zones (Floor 5 South). Conversation is allowed in the Group Study Room, Library Learning Room and IT Lab L but please be mindful of the people studying around you. The descriptions for the different Study Zones can be found outside each room.

Southend 

Hot and cold food and drinks may be consumed in the Learning Hub (2nd floor). On the ground and first floor only lidded drinks are permitted. 

In the quiet area on the 2nd floor (turn right when leaving the lifts, it is at the end of the corridor) noise should be kept to a minimum. In all other areas of the Learning Hub, group work and conversation is acceptable but please be mindful of those working around you.
