Can I borrow books from another campus library (Colchester, Southend, Loughton)?

Answer

Colchester students: You can borrow books from our Loughton campus library as you would from Colchester. You can also request the items be sent to Colchester campus for collection. More information can be found on our Reservations page.

Our library at Southend is set up a little differently, you will need to visit the Student Services desk in Southend and request a new student card be printed with the Southend Library barcode on the back.

At the moment, items from Southend cannot be requested to collect at Colchester.

Loughton students: You can borrow books from our Albert Sloman Library at Colchester in person or you can request an item online to be delivered to Loughton. More information can be found on our Reservations page.

Our library in Southend is set up a little differently, you will need to visit the Student Services desk in Southend and request a new student card be printed with the Southend Library barcode on the back.

At the moment, items from Southend cannot be requested to collect at Loughton.

Southend students: You can borrow books from both of our other campuses (Colchester and Loughton) either in person or by requesting them to be delivered to Southend. More information can be found on our Reservations page.

You can request a book to be collected at the Southend Campus by finding the book in the "Search Library" box, this will take you to the University of Essex Catalogue. Once you've found the book you want to borrow, click on the "Request" link next under the "Get it" section - you will need to log in to see this option.

If you physically go to the Colchester or Loughton Campus' and borrow a book it will show up on a separate account to the books that you have borrowed from Southend. Please return these books directly to Colchester or Loughton Campus, or let the library in Southend know that you borrowed them directly from a different Campus. The account that the books show up on can be logged into here.
