Returning books on loan for over 1 year
Answer
The library has changed to a system of automatic renewals.
This means books on loan to you will renew automatically unless they have been requested by another person, your account is about to expire, or they have been on loan for a year (365 days). Interlibrary loans will not auto-renew.
To make sure that you benefit from automatic renewals, you will need to return any items you have had on loan for a year.
If you still require those books, once they have been returned to the library you can choose to borrow them again for another year.
If you are not able to come onto campus, books can be posted back to us using the addresses on our contact us page.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Returning to other campuses
You can return or renew your books at University of Essex campuses other than the one you borrowed from.
If your are returning or renewing a Colchester or Loughton book at Southend, please return to The Info Point on the 2nd floor rather than the reception desk on the ground floor. You can return during Information Point opening hours which are viewable here. If you are unable to return during these times, please contact libline@essex.ac.uk and we will organise a convenient time for you to return/renew these.
