I’ve published my reading list – what happens now?
Answer
When you publish your reading list, it automatically gets sent to the library for review. During the review process, the reading lists team does the following:
- Ensures that any essential items we already have in the library catalogue are linked to the reading list.
- Purchases any items we do not already have in the library catalogue as follows:
- For essential items, we will purchase eBooks if they are available.
- For non-essential items, we will purchase eBooks in the first instance, or print copies if eBooks are not available.
- If an eBook is not available for an essential item, we will contact the module supervisor to:
- Ask if they would like a particular section or chapter digitised, if print is available.
- Provide alternative resources, with the help of our Academic Liaison Librarians.
- Ask that they change the importance to non-essential, if print is available.
- If there is no format available for an item, we will contact the module supervisor to ask that they replace it with an alternative resource, encouraging the use of Open Access or Open Educational Resources.
- The reading lists team will also check that all links to essential items are working, and the reading list is structured in a clear way.
