Why is my grant missing from the RIS / Why can’t I manually add a grant to the RIS?

Answer

Grant data is fed directly from the University award system (RCP) and can’t be manually added to RIS. In general, any grant that has been costed and awarded in RCP will automatically appear in RIS. However, a grant may not appear for the following reasons:

  • Financial setup incomplete – We have received the award letter, but the financial setup has not yet been completed. Once the REO Post Award team issues the Award Announcement, the grant will usually appear in RIS at the same time.
  • Internal award setup issue – The award is processed internally by REO but may not have been set up correctly in the system.
  • Non REO managed awards – Certain personal or departmental awards are not managed by the REO and therefore do not appear in RIS.

For grants processed by REO, please contact reors@essex.ac.uk providing additional information - such as the RCP reference or the REO Award Announcement email so that they can investigate the issue further.

Awards not handled by the REO can’t be added to the RIS as grant records. However, you may record them on your RIS profile by selecting:

  • Professional Activity type: Current Research, or
  • by including details in your biography.

Items added in this way will appear on your public profile under Current Research or Biography, depending on your selection.
