What will happen to print books at Southend?

University of Essex students and staff will continue to have access to university book stock at the Forum until the campus closes on 31st August 2026. All books should be returned by 1st September 2026 (for more information see our FAQ).
We will be withdrawing some stock prior to this but only where books are out of date or haven’t been used in recent years. To support our commitment to sustainability, withdrawn items will be sent to Better World Books.
After the closure, relevant books will be moved to our Colchester. Decisions on stock management will be made in line with the Library and Cultural Services Collection Development and Management Policy.
