Q. How do I renew a book?

Answer

Colchester / Loughton: You can renew your books from our website. From the "My Account" tab in the top left of our homepage select your campus. You will need to log in with your essex id. From your list of books checked out you can choose to renew all or renew selected books. Please remember to click "yes" to confirm renewal when prompted. The new due date should then appear on the screen. You can also renew at our self-service machines in the library. Select "my account", scan your card at the contactless point, then select "renew books". Renewed items will appear with a green tick next to them. If you have any problems renewing your books please ask at the Helpdesk.

Southend: You can renew your book online. Go to the library website homepage. Click on My Account then Southend. Enter your Borrower ID (Letters and numbers on the BACK of your Student Card underneath your barcode). Some students will not have a number on the back of their card, in this case use the PRID ID on the front of your card (this is the combination on letters and numbers starting with the first letters in your surname) and add 001 onto the end. Next put in your PIN (This will be your 6 digit date of birth or an alternative PIN you have set up yourself). Then Click on ""Current Loans"" and select the book that you want to renew. Then click on "Renew Selections". You can renew all your books by clicking on ""Renew All"". Alternatively you can call 01702 534 151.

Please remember you will be unable to renew any book that has been recalled by another reader.
