Q. What access do alumni members have?

Answer

Colchester: As an alumnus, you would be able to borrow up to 5 books from the Main Collection for up to 12 weeks. These items are subject to recall (when requested by other members).

Books that are in the Student Collection on floor 1 (7 day loans) or short loan are not available to alumni due to them being prioritised for current students, as they are on reading lists.

You are also able to have walk-in access to a limited selection of e-resources, available on specific PCs in the library. Please ask staff at the Helpdesk for walk-in access.

The Alumni office also offer access to e-resources through JSTOR.

To access these services, please ensure you have applied and received your Alumni card through the Alumni website.https://www.essex.ac.uk/alumni

Once you have your card, please bring this along with proof of address and photo ID to sign up for library alumni membership at our Helpdesk.

Southend

Reference access to books is available. Alumni are permitted to access a limited selection of e-resources on public library PCs on the first floor. To access e-resources, you will need to ask the staff on the Ground Floor to see the University Librarian. We will then ask you to fill in a form. You can then access the databases using the public library computers on the 1st floor of The Forum.

Loughton

Alumni have walk-in access to the Loughton library and a limited selection of e-resources. You will need to ask library staff to create a card for you.
